Supplying him with food and water every day kept his body alive but the dog's spirit was broken and mending it was something that may have been impossible.
No matter what the residents tried. they could not coax the poor thing out from under the deep brush, luckily someone called "Hope For Paws" who came down to try to help this dog, which they later named Tarzan.
Rescuers JoAnn and Lisa from Hope for Paws arrived and immediately knew just looking into his eyes the dog was not a lost cause and they could tell he just needed a little TLC.
Starting slowly they started giving Tarzan a few snacks, along with words of encouragement and love. The two women stayed at it and as time went on Tarzan started creeping closer and closer knowing these wonderful people were not here to hurt him.
Maybe their words reminded Tarzan of a time when he was loved and living in a home where he could cuddle next to someone in a soft warm bed rather than the cold hard ground surrounded by sticks, bushes and the constant ear-shattering noise of highway traffic and blaring truck horns.
Soon the girls earned enough of Tarzan's trust to get him safely in their care, and they carried him off to meet the veterinary team, get cleaned up, and get even more love. We’re sure he now understands how wonderful humans can be.
It can be tough, especially for animal lovers, not to jump into the fray when we see an animal in danger, but we encourage our readers to leave the rescuing to the professionals. A simple act of calling your local animal rescue hotline can make all the difference.
